2019 Summer Outreach Bowron Lakes Canoe Circuit - July 16-27, 2019

SUMMER OUTREACH 2019
Bowron Lakes Canoe Circuit
July 16-27, 2019

Let’s step back in time to the era of the gold rush at Barkerville, British Columbia.  Here we will tour the old mining town and see the impact of mining in the area.  We will also test our paddling abilities when we embark on this world renown canoe circuit in a remote wilderness setting.  We will use both our flatwater and moving water skills in the 116 km circuit which is made up of 10 lakes connected with rivers, includes 10 km of portages.  Participants will learn how to “read” the water, set up camp, be responsible for all their basic first aid requirements and participate in the preparation of meals and clean-up. The area is prone to sudden changes in weather, so weather watching this is another skill the participants will need to develop.  If you purchase a fishing license you might be able to catch your supper too!

Space is limited for this amazing adventure - we only have room for 15 participants in this program.  The cost will be $265/person, which will include transportation, canoe and wheel rental, food, camping fees along the way and admission to Barkerville.  It includes two days to travel to and from the location and 7 days of great adventure paddling in a very remote location. This adventure is for experienced and confident paddlers only and for those who are comfortable in a wilderness location where emergency rescue could be days away

Mark this event in your calendar and watch for registration to open later on this spring.  You will be required to provide the committee with detailed resume of your paddling experience.

DON’T MISS OUT ON THIS ONE! Come and join the adventure!!

Red Deer Woodchucks fundraiser for Kayak Trip

Would you like a chance to win some beer?  Potentially a lot of beer? Do you like the thrill of elimination raffle contests?  Would you like to help our Challenger Warden's get to Desolation Sound, BC for a week long kayak trip?

If you answered yes to any of these, then you should enter our BEER SURVIVOR contest!

We encourage you all to invite your friends, family and coworkers to join your team. You don't have to belong to JFW to play.  The more teams we have playing, the larger the prizes.

HOW a Survivor Raffle contest works:

  1. You enter a team of 6 people (or you can enter as an individual and be put on a team).  Players must be over 18.
  2. Entry fee is $20 PLUS $15-20 of beer.
  3. The $20 is donated to the Challenger fundraiser.  All the beer entries are put up as prizes
  4. Beer entries must have a receipt.  No growlers/howlers etc or homemade beer are allowed
  5. You can buy an Immunity Token for $10 as an "extra life".  One immunity per entry.
  6. You can be on more than one team.  If you are, you are allowed to have an immunity token for each team.
  7. Deadline for entries is MARCH 20,2019
  8. 5 elimination rounds will take place April 1-6, 2019. Names will be randomly drawn and eliminated from the pool. Eliminated names will be emailed out daily.
  9. As long as one of your teammates is still in the draw, you have a chance to win.
  10. The last remaining player (and teammates) win First Prize (50% of the beer entries). Second prize (30% of entries) goes to the second last name eliminated and Third prize (20% of the beer entries) to the third last name eliminated.

Winners will be announced April 6.
