Tree Bagging - Highlights

The Annual Tree Bagging for the City of Edmonton was held this past Sunday.

On Sunday, 51 JFW members came to help out from across the province - from Westlock to Red Deer!  In an hour and a half, 13,000 trees were individually bagged for distribution to the local Grade One students.

Pretty impressive time considering the amount of trees!

Thanks for coming to help out.

National Camp - Silent Auction

Come Prepared for the Silent Auction at National Camp!

As you know, the silent auction is a chance to buy some unique and useful items, and the proceeds go towards covering the costs of the camp.

This year's twist: Please bring something handmade or second-hand!

We encourage you to make something special for the silent auction (each family is asked to bring one thing) or to bring something used-but-valuable.  (Maybe a favourite camp stove or backpack that you no longer need but is in good shape, or a good book or... the sky's the limit!)

The point is, we don't want you to feel obliged to buy something new for this event, as there are so many great "gently used" and "lovingly handmade" possibilities.

Helpers will be wanted as well, to help set up and run the silent auction.

Please see the National Camp website for more information

Bow Valley Provincial Park, Kananaskis Country
Hosted by your Calgary Bobcats

Open to Everyone! Registration is now OPEN.  Click DETAILS below to find important information about this event.  Come one, come all!!

Come to Bow Valley Provincial Park for Calgary District’s Spring Camp, Friday, June 2 to Sunday, June 4, 2017.  At less than an hour away from Calgary, Bow Valley Provincial Park is the perfect setting for a great, low-key weekend.

Your host club, the Calgary Bobcats, has secured two adjacent group campsites, Owl AND Grouse, in Kananaskis this year, to accommodate as many JFW families as want to come.  Both weekend camping and Saturday day trip options will be available.

The plan for the weekend is plain, simple fun.  2017’s theme is Back to the Forest, and the Bobcats are slowing things down, simplifying both the schedule and the process.  See below for a link to the Schedule.

  • On Friday night, you’ll be able to choose between and sign up for a handful of large-group activities scheduled for Saturday afternoon, including a group hike, guided mountain biking, kite building for the younger kids, and more.  Saturday activities start at 9:00 am.  The rest of the time, we’ll focus on combined activities for all Wardens and family members to enjoy together.
  • A special Saturday night red-shirt dinner is supplied, followed by some super cool evening entertainment … we know you won’t be disappointed!

Prior to the event, each Club will be contacted and asked to supply the names of a few volunteers for a combined first aid/security shift.  This schedule will be circulated to attending Clubs well in advance of camp.

Campers will be grouped by Clubs unless otherwise specified or requested.

Registration for Spring Camp will be open from April 25 to May 11 on the AJFWA website.  Stay tuned …and don’t miss this great warm-up for National Camp!

  • Individual registration: $28.00 per person
  • Family Registration: Maximum of $112.00 per family

Camping and Red Shirt dinner included in above rates
Day rate:  $12.00 per person (no max) for Day trips
