Remembering Bill Bresnahan, Former Chief Warden of Alberta

Bill Bresnahan, former Chief Warden of Alberta, recently passed away in Hinton, Alberta.

What a legacy Bill Bresnahan leaves JFW!  

• He was Chief Warden of Alberta from 1980 to 1995.  
• He started the first National Camp at Kananaskis Guest Ranch in 1980.  
• In 1981, he was involved in moving the JFW Provincial Camp from Blue Lake Centre near Hinton to Long Lake Education Centre near Athabasca.  
• He mentored many JFW members over the years he was involved in our program and is fondly remembered.

William John Bresnahan (Bill)

March 1, 1944 - March 7, 2020

William 'Bill' John Bresnahan, 76, died March 7, 2020 in Hinton, Alberta. Bill, son of John 'Jack' Bresnahan and Louise Bresnahan (nee McGuire), is survived by his children, Daniel (Calgary), Jodi (Seattle WA), Robyn (Ottawa), Ryan (Edmonton), Drew (Edmonton) and 3 grandchildren. Bill had a long and diverse career as an educator/instructor and manager for adult and youth outdoor adventure programs, Alberta fire-fighter and military survival courses, and resource industry occupational health and safety training. He loved outdoor pursuits and was completely in his element while paddling, back-packing, skiing, fishing and hunting. Bill was generous and loving to his family, and cherished his lasting friendships. His love, kindness and wonderful sense of humour will be deeply missed by family and friends.
